A digital journey through fashion

background

Museo del Traje de Madrid

The Garment Museum of Madrid is an institution that was created in 2004, although its collections have been shown in other museums since 1925. After a year and a half of refurbishment works, the museum is reopening its doors in autumn 2021 and is premièring a new permanent exhibition of its collection.

the problem

Too much information

The team in charge of the new permanent exhibition realized the Museum has so much additional content for each Area, such as anecdotes, stories, and exciting information in general. Still, they couldn't fit in each room so much content, so they needed a solution.

Users study

Visitor's opinions matter

I surveyed 20 visitors about their interest in the Museum and whether they would find it helpful to have complementary information. Everyone said they would like to be able to access extra content somehow.

Users study

I came up with the following conclusions

Allow the visitor to access supplementary content by scanning a QR in each area of the Museum.

The user will be able to revisit the Museum by connecting to the website and anyone who wants to have a previous view.

Since all the garments are viewed from one side, presenting a 360º rotation will help the user enjoy the rest of the pieces.

the value

So what should I give them?

A website, mobile-first with QR access to each area

Wireframes

Then to understand how
things are going to look I turned to the paper

solution

We matched art and technology to explain complex processes and institutional information visually.

Home

With a lateral scroll, users can choose the area they want to visit without being in the Museum.

360º interaction

To motivate the user to use the web, we made an interaction where we photographed the pieces with a 360º movement so the user could view every side.

Music

The visitor can get into context by listening to a Spotify list of music from the same period.

design

Design that supports stylishly all the content
